
Rabindranath Tagore
Born on 7th May,1861 in a Brahmin family in Calcata,Tagore was brought up in a progressive and enlightened family.His education was largely self-education.He could not stand the rigid discipline of school and college education. He studied for sometime in the University of Londan.Rabindranath was a born poet and he wrote profusely.He wrote lyrics,dance-dramas,verse-dramas, forces,short stories, novels, letters and eassays both literary and social.Indeed,here is God's plenty.Gitanjali is a collection of lyrics taken form his various poetical works.Rabindranath was awarded the Nobel prize for Gitanjali in 1913.Famous english poet Yeats wrote in the preface: these songs are eternal; "travellers will hum...
